Spring Opening
Spring Opening at Camp at Ak-O-Mak Eighteen volunteers gathered at Ak-O-Mak for the May Long-Weekend to begin camp’s annual opening-up process. Thanks to our dedicated friends, Myles and Glenn Biggs, Doug Thompson, Jay Spence and Dave Webster, the chain saws were buzzing at warp speed through the cabin line, cleaning up the many fallen trees from this particularly windy winter and wet spring.

HAPPY CANADA DAY! July 1st started with cloudy skies but that didn’t stop us from hitting the trails and water.
Hayley's Highlights
There is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather and a different kind of good weather is certainly what we have been having up at Ak-O-Mak. We’ve tried everything; the girls learned to do our rain dance as we sang to Hunegah – the “God” of Sun; we’ve also tried ignoring the rain (maybe if we pretend it’s not there it will just get bored and leave us alone).
Hayley's Highlights
So, maybe I spoke too soon, after enjoying the beautiful sunshine all day yesterday we were rudely interrupted by dark stormy rain clouds. All the girls got up early for Early Bird, running or swimming, or running and swimming before breakfast.

Celebration of Buck’s Life by Dianne Young
Alumni Weekend Celebration of Buck’s Life On behalf of Camp Ak-O-Mak, I would like to express a heart felt “thank you” to all of our guests, Ahmic Lake neighbours and dedicated Ak-O-Mak alumni who attended the Alumni Weekend Celebration of Buck’s life on July 12th. The Main House was packed to the walls and its balcony filled with campers and visitors from as far away as Australia and Hong Kong, all gathering to say a final “good-bye” to their friend and legendary personality, Buck Dawson.
Jan's Words About Buck
This is a gathering to celebrate the life of William Forrest Dawson. Buck.
