This morning I awoke to my most favourite sound at camp; the splishes and splashes of the eager Early Ealry Bird swimmers along with the swishes of their devout paddlers along side them canoes. It was the perfect start to a perfect camp day.

It’s official, the Team Comp teams have been named and the competition has begun!

Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to fetch her poor dog a bone but when she got there the cupboard wasn’t bare at all it was full of….CHEEZIES!?

Finally, a sunny day! The girls awoke as usual to the Early Bird bell chiming in their ears, and headed down to the lake for their swim or up to the green pump to begin their run.

Hayley's Highlights
There is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather and a different kind of good weather is certainly what we have been having up at Ak-O-Mak. We’ve tried everything; the girls learned to do our rain dance as we sang to Hunegah – the “God” of Sun; we’ve also tried ignoring the rain (maybe if we pretend it’s not there it will just get bored and leave us alone).

So, maybe I spoke too soon, after enjoying the beautiful sunshine all day yesterday we were rudely interrupted by dark stormy rain clouds.
All the girls got up early for Early Bird, running or swimming, or running and swimming before breakfast.

Twas the night before Ak-O-Mak, and all through the site,
All the counsellors were itching their mosquito bites;
They hung up their towels on the clothes line with care,
In hopes all the campers would soon be there.
They were getting camp ready for a summer of fun,
With excitement for swimming, team comp, and runs.

Barrie Triathlon Sign Up
Dear Campers and Parents,
Camp Ak-O-Mak Triathlon coach, Jocelyn Saunders, is currently starting preparations for the Barrie Kids of Steel Triathlon. This race traditional fills up early, therefore we would like to pre-register any campers
interested.

Ak-O-Mak Kiddie Day Camp
Camp Ak-O-Mak is pleased to announce its Kiddie Day Camp 2009.
Now girls and boys aged 4-7 can enjoy special activities and crafts daily from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm Mondays to Fridays at Ak-O-Mak.
