Yesterday morning we awoke to grey skies and heavy rain. Not a promising way to start our day. After a few minutes the rain decided it wasn’t going to let up, instead it continued with a fury. Campers were treated to short sleep in until the rain let up and we could begin Early Bird just a little bit late.
The Oooogah rang and first period was underway, but it wasn’t long before the clouds rolled in and fortunately the rain held off and we could continue with usual morning classes. A cornucopia of activity! Karate, hiiiiya!, dancing, lacrosse and our favourite, SWIMMING! Lucky for us we had a beautiful morning and we made it through all of our lessons without a single rumble of thunder.
A quick sprint up the hill had everyone on the Mainhouse porch just in time for lunch. Spirits were high and the girls sang a lot of songs! We left the Mainhouse for a brief Rest Hour, just long enough to grab our running shoes, caps and goggles and all the gear needed for the Team Comp. event! TRIATHLON! All of the girls would get a change to try our very own Ak-O-Mak mini tri.
It seemed as is Mother Nature had our best interest in mind and held off her rumbling until our last runners headed out. Just as Emma Young from the very last heat crossed the finish line the sky’s opened right up. It rained golf-ball sized rain drops on us and the thunder and lightening arrived. A few HUGE bolts of lightening lit up the sky when we were under a blanket of black clouds. So the girls went back to their cabins a little early to get ready for dinner.
Evening activity saw cabin lip syncs played out in the Mainhouse with a surprise show from the counsellors.
Everyone has made it back to their cabins in the dark and have tucked themselves into bed. Here’s hoping that tomorrow our skies are sunny.
Happy Camping!
